Should I buy this 1989 BMW R100RT or am I an AIRHEAD?!?!

/ 20:31

I test-rode a 1989 BMW R100RT airhead on Sunday. No, I didn’t buy it (yet) but it got me thinking about older, classic motorcycles, and BMW airheads in particular. If I were looking for a project bike, something I might make ready to ride across America in June 2026, would this be a good candidate? All you airhead fanatics, chime in here and let me know what I don’t know. I don’t know much… Disclaimers: * I fully intend to ride my Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 on my second road trip across America, but I’m open to ideas, hence the BMW… * I’m not looking to REPLACE either my Triumph Trident 660 or my Royal Enfield Himalayan 450. This would be a project bike. Something to learn more about wrenching with, and something that I could make memories with. * I am NO expert in BMW motorcycles, but I’ve always loved airheads. I probably get some terms and whatnot incorrect in this video. Sue me. * In the end, the windscreen on this bike is a lot. I might prefer something more naked... * Did I mention it’s orange?? --- 📺 Please subscribe: https://www.youtube.com/@BugMotoChannel 📸 Come say hi over on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/bugmotochannel/ #motorcycle #motovlog #bmw #airheads • Filmed aboard a kind man's 1989 BMW R100RT. +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ • Drone operated as a Part 107-licensed UAV pilot (meaning, it's YouTube legal).
