Day 12

I Rode a Himalayan 450 Across America to See a Road Sign

/ 22:03

There's exactly one thing about motorcycle travel that scares me, and it isn't weather, distance, or a breakdown in the middle of nowhere. It's Boston traffic. I know because I'm from here. When I lived here I used to use my middle finger more than my horn, and by the time I left I'd turned into something I didn't much like. An angry ball of anger. So on a 91-degree day with a heat advisory, I pointed the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 into the heart of it and went looking for a Route 20 sign that reads Newport, Oregon β€” 3,365 miles. That sign closes out the eastbound half of this whole trip. You'll see my old apartment on Jersey Street, the flea-bag dorm that's now million-dollar condos, the college newspaper I used to run on the corner of Berkeley and Beacon... And less traffic than I expected. I love Boston, but I'm glad I live on the West Coast now. πŸ“Έ Come say hi over on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/bugmotochannel/ 🐞 Get Veridian Cruise control for your Himalayan 450, or for other bikes.
