Day 11: Why and How I Keep Crossing North America on a Motorcycle
/ 17:21
It's the last full day before I reach Boston, and I'm leaving a shady motel in Buffalo bound for Pittsfield, Massachusetts. I'm riding my trusty Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, which in over 3000 miles so far on this trip, has not let me down at all.
Day 11 and I'm finally making it back to my birthplace. Again. For the second year in a row.
People always ask why. Why spend so much time on a motorcycle when a plane gets you there in five hours? And the honest answer is, because. Why does anyone jog? Why do people climb mountains?
Somewhere along the line long-distance motorcycle travel became part of how I understand myself — not out in the world, just in my own head. I'm a guy who gets on a motorcycle and rides clear across the continent, for no real reason other than.... because.
Special thanks to @sabatinomoto and @RoyalEnfieldNorthAmerica for the support.
